Our Story

The Willie and Sandra McBride Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) created by four brothers out of Bridgeport, CT. The main goal of the foundation is to create a safe and nurturing environment for youth where they can realize and obtain their full potential.

Dedicated to improving the lives of the youth of Bridgeport, CT, the nonprofit was created by the McBride brothers in order to properly honor our parents’ vision. Our parents instilled in us at an early age that service to your community is its own reward.

The patriarch, Willie McBride, Sr. spent his early professional years as a police officer in Father Panik Village in the early 80’s. He spent his time passionately protecting the citizens of this housing project. After leaving the police department, Willie, Sr. joined the Bridgeport Fire Department where he stayed for twenty years until finally retiring as the position of pumper engineer.

Our mother, Sandra, is the heart of the family, the strongest of the lot. She held this family together so fervently and without hesitation that she made it look easy. For years she successfully balanced a career in manufacturing while tending to an at times unruly household, four boys constantly vying for her attention, and hardly enough time for herself. Her sacrifice has not gone unnoticed even if at times it goes unsaid.

With this, we created the Willie and Sandra McBride Foundation to inspire others to follow in path and continue the legacy our parents began so many years ago!
